CURRICULUM VITAE —WAFAA HAGGAG RESEARCH INTERESTS: I am working at the National Research Center (NRC), where multidisciplinary research and development take place. NRC is helping Egypt through R&D program to overcome different problems including food and environment related problem. Because of the need for reduced reliance on chemical tools to manage pests in urban landscapes, there is an increasing need for research which better integrates cultural and biological tools. My specific research is conducted on: 1- Control of soilborne and foliar diseases of agricultural crops, all of which are important in Egypt and some of which are important nationally and globally, and the development of integrated systems for environmentally compatible and cost effective disease management. 2- Development and improvement of microorganisms for agriculture, industry, health and environment applications . 3- A major component of my interest in biological control, understanding how to quantify non-target risks and to plan introductions of biological control agents to have minimal impact on indigenous species, yet maximal impact upon pathogens populations by: Enhancement of biocontrol efficacy of antagonistic microorganisms to soil and foliar diseases in crops; molecular biology and metabolic profiling of antagonist strains functional impact of genetically modified microorganisms; Improve production and formulation technology and development of agricultural waste into a delivery system for biological control use of safe chemicals as anti-transparent, polyamines, antioxidants, induce resistance, plant extract. Research Project I. Principal Investigator
