Night for FMS/FHS
parents March 20
The Curriculum and Instruction office
of Ferndale Public Schools, with the help
of the African American Parent Network,
will host an information meeting for
both Ferndale Middle and Ferndale High
School Parents, “Understanding the
Changes in Grades 7-11 Math.”
The event will take place
at the FHS Media Center on AAPN
Wednesday, March 20 at
6:30 p.m. Parents will learn
about the new Common
Core Standards and the
new Smarter Balance state
Ferndale
mathematics assessments. Public
Schools
The presenters will be
Susan Clippert, K-12 Math Coordinator
and Tom Maes, Grades 7-12 Instructional
Lead Math Teacher.
All parents of students in middle and
high school are encouraged to attend
this important event.
FMS Orchestra receives 1st division ratings at MSBOA
The Ferndale Middle School 7th and 8th grade combined orchestra received
straight 1st division ratings at MSBOA District Festival last week. A 1st division
rating signifies an excellent musical performance and is the highest rating possible.
Director of Orchestras Benjamin Moy was proud of how the students conducted
themselves both on stage and off: “One of the Walled Lake Western parents
working concessions at the festival made a point to talk to me when she found out I
was the director for Ferndale. She said, ‘I love it when Ferndale comes here.
Your students are always so polite and well behaved. Not all schools are.’ “
