FHS spring concert will
feature alumni performance
The FHS Bands will be performing their Annual Spring Concert on Saturday, May
18, at 7 p.m. in the FHS Auditorium. The concert will feature Ira Hearshen, a Detroit-area
native, who has composed special music just for FHS and will also feature the first FHS
Alumni Band concert in 30 years. (Photo above is from the 2001 FHS Talon)
The FHS Wind Ensemble will be premiering “8 Mile Rhythm,” by Ira Hearshen, dedicated
to the Ferndale High School Band program and based on three iconic Motown
tunes: “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” “Living for the City,” and “What’s Going On?”
An Alumni Band Rehearsal will be held in the late morning on May 18. Musicians will
be contacted with more details and music to practice.
There is no admission charge for the concert.
An Alumni Band Reunion will be held after the concert at Como’s Pizza, outside
patio, 22812 Woodward Avenue (at 9 Mile), Ferndale, MI 48220.
