FEdEC<br />

created in 1998, the European Federation of professional circus schools (FEDEc)<br />

is a network that comprises 55 members: 42 higher Education Institutions<br />

and Vocational training centres and 13 partner organisations in 26 countries<br />

in Europe and beyond (Austria, Australia, Belgium, canada, chile, colombia,<br />

czech republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, hungary, Italy, Morocco,<br />

the netherlands, norway, peru, poland, portugal, russia, spain, sweden,<br />

switzerland, the netherlands, tunisia, the united Kingdom and the usA)<br />

FeDec’s main vocation is to support the development and evolution of training<br />

pedagogy and creation in the field of circus arts education with the following<br />

objectives:<br />

– to improve the education provided in professional circus schools<br />

– to reinforce the links between professional circus schools<br />

– to represent these schools at european or international level<br />

– to promote the work of young artists who have graduated<br />

from these schools.<br />

to this end the FeDec sets up different activities:<br />

– facilitating a network of schools, allowing the organisation of numerous<br />

bilateral and multilateral exchanges of students, teachers and<br />

administrators each year<br />

– assembling and distributing information of all kinds in the circus<br />

arts education sector<br />

– designing and coordinating european projects that aim to improve<br />

the teaching practices of its members (in particular through<br />

the production of teaching aids, seminars, professional exchanges,<br />

dissemination of best practice)<br />

– intervening with the authorities on a european or national level, according<br />

to the demands and needs of the <strong>Fedec</strong> or one or more of its members<br />

– organising and implementing events or demonstrations that aim to increase<br />

the influence of creation and training in circus arts or to improve<br />

contacts with associations and organisations working in the fields of art,<br />

education, sport, economy, and the social sector<br />

– equipping the federation with regulations and a code of ethics for<br />

professional training in circus arts<br />

FeDec is supported by the european commission (DG– education and culture - lifelonglearning Programme),<br />

the education, audiovisual and culture executive agency (eacea), cirque du Soleil, Franco<br />

Dragone entertainment Group and cirque Phénix.<br />
