The The Bethlehem Bethlehem Candle Candle

The Adult Choir will
On the second Sunday of
Advent, we light the “Bethlehem
Candle” which reminds us that
God chooses some strange places
to make His presence known.
This candle reminds us that
Christ was born in a rough manger
inside a crude stable behind
a tiny inn in the village of
Bethlehem in Judea.

A Moment with the Pastor
We had the largest attendance ever for a children’s Christmas program last Sunday
night. Over 900 people were present for the Preschool Choir and the First through
Sixth grade performance of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” Thank you, Megan
Woodham, Katie Popham, Wanda Lewis, music teachers, choirs, and drama team for a
wonderful evening. This was a MAJOR undertaking for our Children’s and Music Ministries.
I couldn’t be more please and happy for all involved. It was a wonderful way to
begin our Christmas celebration.
Next up is our Christmas Pageant, “Glorious Impossible,” Saturday night and Sunday night. Our Adult
Choir and musicians are working hard to make this special. Invite your family and friends to share in this
musical presentation.

During the month of December, we emphasize international missions support through the Lottie Moon
Christmas Christmas Offering Offering. Offering Our church goal is $80,000 and we have received $20,712.50 to date. Consider the
average costs of supporting one missionary:

Thank you so much for yours prayers and support
while I had a great opportunity for ministry in Staten
Island, NY. It was a blessed week in many ways.
We were availed with many occasions to share the
love of Christ through our service, and able to lead
some to a new life in Christ. It was an occasion for
me to experience the support of five different
churches for the cause of Christ. Permit me to explain
and share the blessings of cooperation within
the Body of Christ. The team was a chain saw/
mud out crew made up of members from FBC,
Glynwood, and Camellia Baptist churches. Our first
night’s stay was at Lynn Haven Baptist Church in
Vinton, VA. Lynn Haven provided rooms, showers
for weary travelers. Our home away from home
was provided by the Monrovian Evangelical Church
of Staten Island. How blessed we are when we
acknowledge all of these churches are on the
same team, for one cause. To God be the Glory.

Music
The Preschool Three, Four, and Five year old choirs began our
Christmas music at FBC last Sunday night. They started us off
with right focus as they sang songs about baby Jesus and the Little
Lamb. It was a great beginning for to the entire children’s program.
Following our preschool choirs was a full scale production of the
play, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” presented by our First
through Sixth grade Children’s Choirs and Children’s Ministry. The
entire program was simply outstanding. All of the actors, both children
and adults, did an amazing job portraying their characters.
They made us both laugh and cry, and they stirred our hearts as
they retold the simple story of the birth of Jesus through the eyes
of children. The first through sixth grade choirs added much to the
program as they sang their beautiful Christmas carols.
Thank you to the entire cast for the many hours of rehearsing
and memorizing your lines - you were very professional. Thank you
to everyone who helped with sound, lighting, video, staging, props,
stage crew and all the parents who helped behind the scenes. We
could not have done it without you. A big thank you goes to Wanda
Lewis for her excellent leadership as Children’s Choir Coordinator
and a special thank you to Megan Woodham and Katie Popham for
a wonderful job co-directing the entire production. We can truly
say that here at FBC that we definitely had the best Christmas pageant
ever!
