perhaps it’s the cold climate in the alps or the
salzburg genius loci but there’s definitely something
newly regal in the air.
next autumn-winter sissi and Franz will be together
once again on the tyrol peaks, at the
schneiders maison no doubt.
with this spirit in the forests and a certain ro-
mantic and sporty allure, schneiders has dressed
next autumn-winter 2013-14 couple in a return
to the historic hubertus model dating to 1946
and still considered the loden par excellence. he
has dusted off the classic overcoat with a large
pleat on the back and military inset sleeves and
transformed it into his softer loden-walk style,
or rather, a knitted loden focusing on a sharp,
unlined cut. so schneiders has gone back to a
four pocket overcoat (two applied, two diagonal)
returning to the idea of the quilted zipped
tecno-light gilet but toning it down in a ‘faux’
version. he has gone for winter colours with
austere and very hapsburg forest and olive
greens, navy blues and browns. time seems to
stand still in the schneiders maison which has
made the loden its icon. it feels as if this label
has just walked out of a late nineteenth century
imperial castle picture gallery having decided
to pay no heed to the vagaries of history but
having let a breath of fresh air waft in through
