2. Thermal-neutron capture y-ray spectroscopy.<br />

A thermal-neutron "beam from the horizontal radial "beam hole of the Dutch<br />

High Flux Reactor is obtained with a filter method. The thermal-neutron<br />

flux is about 10 cm s~ . The y-rays from several (n,y) reactions were<br />

studied with a high-resolution Ge(Li) spectrometer and a l*096-channel<br />

analyser. From the measurements the following physical information was<br />

obtained: y-ray energies and intensities, excitation energies, Q-values<br />

and decay schemes. The reactions, which have been studied, are:<br />

2 Vg(n,y) 25 Mg(ref.l), 25 Mg(n,y) 26 Mg(ref.l), ^Cain.y) ^ 1 Ca(ref.2),<br />

12 C(n,y) 13 C(ref.3), 1T F(n,y) 20 F(ref.3) and ^Ca(n,y) ** 5 Ca(ref.h).<br />

These investigations are a part of the program of the Dutch Foundation for<br />

Fundamental Research on Matter ("Stichting voor Fundamenteel Onderzoek<br />

der Materie", F.O.M.).<br />
