3.3.1.2 Power Supplies
Power usage is given in the datasheet, chapter 4.1. Make sure that
the supply and battery backup is sufficient is for the required power
and backup time. Take into account the use of door strikes as well.
3.3.1.3 Orbit outputs
The Orbit has various solid-state relays that can be used to switch a
door strike (or other equipment).
3.3.1.4 Inputs
These relays are only suitable for D.C. and maximum 28 Volt at 1
Ampere (not inductive).
One side of the relays is grounded: each relay switches one contact
to ground (see drawing 76000160): all outputs, OUT0 and OUT1 of
each reader, have a common, ground.
These relays are not suitable for all possible situations. If, for example,
an electrically isolated switch is required, an additional mechanical
relay is needed.
Note This outputs are normally open (N.O.) when the power is removed
from Astro. For high security situations where N.C. contacts
are used, it is necessary to use an additional mechanical
relay.
Inputs (for door contacts, loops, etc.) are shown in the drawing
76000160.
• One side of all inputs is grounded.
• The other side of the input must be shorted to ground in order to
activate the input.
Normal switches can be used with these inputs without any problems.
Note Before connecting other equipment to Astro, consult the specifications
of the equipment to prevent conflicts and possible
damage.
3.3.1.5 PC Hardware and Software
Astro is designed to function with Microsoft Internet Explorer, version
6.0 or later. If an earlier version is used, some screens may not function
properly. The Internet Explorer on the Astro CD is suitable for
Astro.
3.3.2 Mechanical Installation
There are no specific requirements for the PC as the browser application
is quite simple. No additional software need be installed on
the PC.
3.3.2.1 Readers and Locks
Determine where the readers are to be mounted and obtain the necessary
mounting materials.
