do the same rules apply to young people?<br />
A person aged 15 or over and who is suspected of an offence can be<br />
remanded. For young persons aged between 15 and 18 there shall be<br />
exceptional circumstances. Alternatively, the suspect can be placed in<br />
a young person’s institution.<br />
Are only remand prisoners placed on remand?<br />
Persons who are being handled subject to legislation on social services,<br />
care of young persons or care of substance abusers and asylum seekers<br />
awaiting deportation can also be placed on remand.<br />
what does remand with restrictions involve?<br />
This means that the court has decided that there is a risk of the<br />
remanded person removing evidence or impeding the investigation.<br />
Restrictions may include one or more of the following:<br />
• the person on remand may not receive visitors<br />
• the person on remand may not associate with other persons on<br />
remand<br />
• the person on remand’s post is inspected by the prosecutor<br />
• the person on remand may not watch TV or listen to the radio.<br />
A person on remand without restrictions may spend time with other<br />
inmates at certain times of the day.<br />
