The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has Sweden’s largest<br />
treatment apparatus for drug abusers. 9,000 to 10,000 clients (total on<br />
remand, in prison and in non-custodial care) have a drug problem to a<br />

The Prison and Probation Service has a vision of zero alcohol and<br />
drugs in its institutions. To prevent abuse in our prisons, we carry out<br />
checks in the form of searches of the inmates’ rooms and in association<br />
areas. The Prison and Probation Service also carries out drug<br />
checks, in the form of urine tests for example.<br />
