TREATMENT PROGRAMMES
Many offences are committed as a result of dependent
or defective understanding. what is the Prison and
Probation Service doing to counteract this?
The Prison and Probation Service uses a great deal of its resources
in breaking criminal behaviour and increasing the knowledge and
understanding of inmates. In addition to traditional methods, such
as education and social rehabilitation, the Prison and Probation
Service also uses 13 accredited treatment programmes. During 2011,
approximately 5,800 clients in prison and 3,700 clients on probation
completed such a programme.
