The student enters from X <strong>School</strong> in XISD during the third nine-week grading<br />

period. The student has an average of 81% in Math. The teacher enters the<br />

average of 81% as the grade for each assignment in the gradebook that was scored<br />

prior to the student’s arrival. The school will enter the 81% as the student’s cycle<br />

grade for the first two nine-week grading periods.<br />

3. Students who have not received a cycle grade from the sending school: Withdrawal grades<br />

will be used for any missing <strong>Aldine</strong> cycle grades and gradebook scores.<br />

4. After a student receives a cycle grade from the sending school, only the average of the cycle<br />

grades will be used for any missing <strong>Aldine</strong> cycle grades and gradebook scores.<br />

5. If a student is transferring into the district with no prior grades, the student will not be given<br />

a cycle average unless he/she has 4 daily grades, 1 major grade, and 1 homework grade.<br />

6. Transfer grades are calculated the same for students transferring from a school within the<br />

district and for students coming from a school outside of the district.<br />

M. GRADING REQUIREMENTS<br />

1. Students will receive weighted numeric grades in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and<br />

Written Communication.<br />

2. Percentages for major and daily work:<br />

3. Major Grades - One major grade spread out during each three-week period so there is a balance<br />

during the progress reporting period. All district-required benchmark assessments MUST be<br />

included as major grades in the nine-weeks that they are administered.<br />

Major grades may consist of, but are not limited to, the following:<br />

nine weeks tests<br />

benchmark exams<br />

unit/chapter tests<br />

research projects/papers (final product)<br />

special projects (science fair, history fair, performances, speeches, etc.)<br />

performance-based assessments<br />

book reports/critiques<br />

compositions<br />

portfolios<br />
