2. Unexcused absences<br />

a. Unexcused absences may result in no grade (NG) and the need to reconsider<br />

Homebound Services.<br />

<strong>School</strong>work<br />

Testing<br />

1. Textbooks<br />

a. Textbooks should be provided to the student from his/her campus.<br />

b. Parents are responsible for checking out and returning textbooks. Neither<br />

homebound instructors nor school personnel will be able to check out textbooks.<br />

2. Make-up work<br />

a. If the student has been out of school for more than five days prior to the initial<br />

General Education Homebound meeting, the family should request make-up work<br />

from the student’s campus.<br />

3. Extracurricular<br />

a. Students who are too ill to attend school are considered too ill to participate in<br />

extracurricular activities.<br />

b. If the student exhibits the ability for such activities, the student would not continue<br />

with Homebound Services.<br />

4. Student Work<br />

a. The student’s teachers must complete the <strong>Teacher</strong> Assignment Form (GEH # 4)<br />

each week and provide to the Homebound <strong>Teacher</strong>s.<br />

b. The student’s teachers must provide the assignments and the materials for the<br />

assignments weekly to the Homebound <strong>Teacher</strong>s.<br />

c. When writing lesson plans for the week for the student on homebound, teachers<br />

must take into consideration the student is receiving much less direct instructional<br />

time due to the severity of the student’s illness/injury than when the student is<br />

attending school for instruction.<br />

1. The homebound teacher will administer state assessments to eligible students.<br />

Miscellaneous<br />

1. Homebound Services are provided within the <strong>Aldine</strong> <strong>Independent</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong><br />

boundaries.<br />

2. Homebound instructors will not enter situations that are dangerous. This includes a home<br />

where any person has an infectious or contagious condition.<br />

3. An adult must be present in the home with the student during the entire provision of<br />

Homebound Services. This is required even if the student is age 18 or older.<br />

Transition from GEH to the classroom<br />

1. Length of the transition period must be determined by the GEH committee based on the<br />

student’s current medical information.<br />

2. ADA eligibility shifts back to the requirements of the 2-4 hour rule once the student has<br />

completed the transition period as determined by the GEH committee.<br />

1. STAAR campus printout for fourth grade students<br />

2. Labels for all assessments affixed to intermediate school permanent record card<br />

3. Iowa Test of Basic Skills campus printout for fourth grade students<br />

4. Kindergarten math cards in cumulative folders<br />
