Reports<br />
<strong>School</strong>s are required to maintain the fire drill and fire prevention forms at the campuses and turn<br />
them in to the director of safe and secure schools at the end of the year.<br />
L. GRADING POLICY/REQUIREMENTS<br />
Policies described are minimum district policies. Individual buildings may have additional<br />
requirements.<br />
Numerical grades are not given in PK. <strong>Teacher</strong>s will use daily observations, nine weeks<br />
individualized testing, and portfolios to determine progress and mastery of the benchmark<br />
targets/state guidelines. The report card will show parents the mastery of skills throughout the year.<br />
The marks used on the report are as follows:<br />
Academic areas –<br />
2,3,4,5,6 - Indicates which nine weeks the skill was mastered<br />
- Indicates that the skill was introduced and tested but the student has not yet mastered<br />
the skill<br />
Blank – Indicates that the skill has not yet been introduced or tested<br />
Social Skills areas –<br />
- Indicates satisfactory<br />
X – Indicates experiencing difficulty<br />
Students must be in attendance a minimum of 80 days each semester in order to receive credit for a<br />
class. An attendance committee may grant exceptions for extenuating circumstances.<br />
Students will be assessed at the end of each grading period to determine progress and skill mastery in<br />
all areas addressed on the report card (including social skills). Documentation must be maintained<br />
for areas of concern.<br />
M. HOMEWORK POLICY<br />
Grades EC/PK<br />
A campus homework plan will be implemented at each campus to provide extra practice,<br />
maintenance of skills or review of skills.<br />
Homework assignments should not exceed fifteen minutes.<br />
The teacher will follow-up on homework assignments and have a system in place to reward<br />
completed assignments.<br />
N. INSTRUCTIONAL INTERVENTION – RE-TEACHING/REASSESSMENT POLICY<br />
Re-teaching and re-assessment is appropriate for all instructional objectives assessed as major grades<br />
as recorded in the teacher’s gradebook regardless of the original assessment grade. It should be a<br />
continuous and ongoing component of every course. All students will have the opportunity to reassess<br />
one time within the specified two-week window for every major grade. The teacher is<br />
required to provide this opportunity for all students scoring below 70% on a major grade.<br />
The original and the re-assessment grade must be documented in the teacher’s grade book score<br />
notes. Only the higher of the two grades will be placed in the grade book when averaging grades for<br />
the reporting period.<br />
Re-teaching for individual or small groups of students will occur during specified times, such as<br />
class time or before or after school, in accordance with the campus Re-teach and Re-assessment<br />
