c. Using negative reinforcement for inappropriate behavior; explaining the appropriate<br />

behavior, following a negative reinforcer with a positive reinforcer as soon as possible.<br />

d. Ignoring behavior that is merely attention getting, if possible.<br />

e. Using a regular enforcement schedule when new behaviors are being learned; using an<br />

intermittent reinforcement schedule when previously learned behaviors are correctly<br />

applied.<br />

E. Customer Service Standards<br />

Objective 3 of the <strong>District</strong> Improvement Plan states that <strong>Aldine</strong> <strong>Independent</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>District</strong> will<br />

improve parent/community relations by creating a welcoming environment in all campuses, facilities<br />

and departments. <strong>Aldine</strong> ISD has provided or made accessible a handbook to assist employees in<br />

meeting the goals of Objective 3. The handbook was customized for <strong>Aldine</strong> ISD by Turning Point<br />

Solutions, a customer service consulting firm, to ensure that guidelines are current with industry<br />

standards.<br />

<strong>Aldine</strong> ISD expects all employees to follow the guidelines and principles outlined in the Customer<br />

Service Standards <strong>Handbook</strong> including but not limited to:<br />

Physical Environment<br />

o Clean Environment<br />

o Organized Environment<br />

Greeting Stakeholders<br />

o Greeting Visitors with a Smile<br />

o Using Names of Visitors if Known<br />

Communicating with Angry Stakeholders<br />

o Remaining Calm<br />

o Taking Notes to Reinforce Listening<br />

Telephone Communication<br />

o Identifying <strong>School</strong>/Department and Self<br />

o Offering Assistance<br />

Written Communication<br />

o Including Name and Contact Information in Responses<br />

o Expression of Appreciation to Sender<br />
