a recorded grade average lower than 70 in any course for that preceding grading period.<br />

The student must have conduct grades for the year of no more than one "N" and no "U's".<br />

2. Qualifications: The student must have been enrolled in school the preceding grading period<br />

and be officially registered at the time of preparation of ballot.<br />

3. Should any officer make a failing grade in any one subject in a grading period, the student<br />

will be placed on probation until the next grade report. If still failing, the student must<br />

forfeit the office. Should this happen in any class, the presidency will be filled by the vicepresident.<br />

All other vacancies will be filled in a manner determined by the principal and the<br />

sponsor. In some cases, the position may remain vacant.<br />

4. It will be the duty of the sponsor of the respective group to verify qualifications and<br />

eligibility of each candidate for the office. After election if a student is determined to be<br />

unqualified or ineligible, the office will be considered vacant.<br />

5. Major offices will be defined as president and vice-president of all classes, student council,<br />

and clubs with national affiliations. All other offices will be classified as minor offices. A<br />

student may hold one major office and one minor office or two minor.<br />

6. Election of class officers/representatives (except seventh graders) will be held during the<br />

spring prior to the office holding year. Seventh graders will elect officers during the first<br />

six weeks each year.<br />

7. A student who has no more than one failing grade “F” from the previous grading period can<br />

be a candidate in election/selection for cheerleader, drill team, and class or organization<br />

officers for the next school year.<br />

T. PAID ASSEMBLIES<br />

Paid assemblies and/or entertainment will be approved by the principal. All schools will be limited<br />

to three paid assemblies involving outside entertainment. Grant funds cannot be used to provide<br />

additional paid assemblies. It will be the principal's responsibility to determine that only quality<br />

entertainment is used.<br />

Principals are encouraged to set up a yearly calendar and schedule all such assemblies for the entire<br />

year. (Avoid having any two paid assemblies close together.) The calendar of activities and<br />

assemblies for the entire year may then be printed and distributed early in the fall semester.<br />

Programs, assemblies, concerts, plays, etc. from other schools in the district must be scheduled<br />

through all involved principals.<br />

U. SALESPEOPLE, AGENTS, FUNDRAISING, ETC.<br />

Access to schools will be limited to:<br />

salespeople, vendors, agents, etc. who are directly involved in school fundraisers or other<br />

school functions;<br />

those individuals listed above must have a vendor letter for the current school year signed by<br />

the director of special programs.<br />

V. LIBRARY FINES: GRADES 7-8<br />

Students are responsible for returning library materials on or before the due date.<br />

1. A ten ($.10) cent overdue fine will be charged per book, per day, excluding weekends<br />

and holidays.<br />

2. The total overdue fine may not exceed $2.00 per book.<br />

3. Payment is required even when a student leaves one <strong>Aldine</strong> campus and enrolls at another<br />

school in <strong>Aldine</strong> ISD or withdraws to attend school in another district.<br />

4. It is not necessary to write student receipts for small library fines; but, when the<br />

information literacy specialist turns in a sum of money to the office, it is to be receipted.<br />

5. <strong>School</strong> policy also determines if students with long overdue books or outstanding fines are<br />

to be restricted in their use of the Library Media Center.<br />
