The middle school has the following limitations for class socials:<br />

7th grade - 1 social, for seventh graders only<br />

8th grade - 2 socials, for eighth graders only<br />

(Maximum of 3 school-wide socials)<br />

Middle school class socials should be held on campus and should not require formal dress.<br />

Middle schools will not have “proms” or “graduations.” These activities are reserved for high<br />

schools.<br />

Extracurricular/Co Curricular Field Trip Policies<br />

1. Approved Trips<br />

Field trips are to be limited to seminars, conventions, contests and experiences of an<br />

educational nature. (Pleasure and entertainment type experiences are not to be interpreted<br />

as being educational.) The request must originate with the building principal and be<br />

approved by the area superintendent. All trips need to be planned well in advance and have<br />

four copies of a written requisition submitted by the established deadline. Field trips<br />

funded solely through special program funds must meet the requirements of the funding<br />

source.<br />

A list of students involved on a field trip must be kept by the school principal or designee<br />

and by the lead teacher/sponsor. Students must be checked on and off the bus at each stop<br />

to ensure the safety of each student involved.<br />

2. Use of Buses<br />

All trips involving buses require an approved bus requisition signed by an area<br />

superintendent or director prior to the requested travel.<br />

3. Overnight Trips<br />

Middle school students may only take overnight trips for district approved events such as<br />

the state or national history fair. All trips are not to be extended beyond 100 miles from<br />

<strong>Aldine</strong> ISD. Refer to section ten for more information on travel.<br />

4. Computing Cost of Bus<br />

There will be no cost for use of school buses involved in field trips made in the immediate<br />

Houston area. Each school, depending upon enrollment, will be allowed a specific number<br />

of such trips.<br />

5. Student/ Chaperone Ratios<br />

See section 10 for student/chaperone ratios.<br />

Involvement In More Than One Activity<br />

1. A student may be enrolled in more than one extracurricular activity. Conflicts in<br />

rehearsal/practice and/or performance times should be resolved at the campus level.<br />

Rehearsal/practice time is to be apportioned in an equitable manner.<br />

2. No penalty to grades, position, etc. is to be assessed because a student chooses to be<br />

involved in more than a single activity.<br />

Eligibility and Qualifications of Students Elected to Office<br />

1. Eligibility: The student may be elected to an office at the beginning of the school year.<br />

Following the initial six weeks or six weeks period of a school year, a student must not have<br />
