Reflexión: Domingo del Buen Pastor,
y nuestra vocación
¡El Buen Pastor! Éste es el símbolo de Jesucristo que
la liturgia de hoy resalta. Es el Buen Pastor que conoce
a sus ovejas y da la vida por ellas. Es el Buen Pastor
que a todos quiere salvar, tanto a las ovejas judías como
a las paganas, y a todos ofrece su vida. Es el Buen Pastor
que apacienta a sus ovejas no sólo en esta tierra,
sino también en el cielo, conduciéndolas a las fuentes
de aguas vivas. Conoce a sus ovejas. El carácter comunitario
y social de la fe, no disminuye para nada el
carácter personal de la relación del Buen Pastor con
cada una de sus ovejas. Porque el
conocer, en la lengua hebrea, implica
además el amar, el desear el
bien de la persona, el sentir afecto
por ella. Es decir, sólo se
puede llegar a conocer a una
persona en el ámbito de la relación
íntima y personal. Cuando
el hombre es conocido de esa
manera por Jesucristo, en virtud
del carácter recíproco de toda
relación personal, entra también
en el mundo de la intimidad de
Jesucristo, le escucha con atención
y le sigue con fidelidad,
alegría y agradecimiento. En el
Evangelio de San Juan, por otra
parte, el conocer casi se identifica
con el creer. Jesucristo tiene
confianza, se fía de sus ovejas,
porque las ama y se siente amado
por ellas. Y, sobre todo, las ovejas confían en Cristo, y
le confiesan como su Salvador y Señor. Jesús como
Buen Pastor se describe a sí mismo como la Puerta por
la que se puede entrar y salir, no una puerta que aprisiona,
que encierra, que ata, sino una puerta que abre a
nuevos caminos, por la que es posible moverse con la
libertad de los hijos de Dios. Pidamos a Dios que no
presentemos a Jesús como una cadena que esclaviza,
sino como la puerta que conduce a la plenitud, que es
Dios. El llamado, nuestra vocación nos ofrece un nuevo
horizonte de la vida para servir a Dios y al prójimo.
Señor Jesús , te doy gracias en este día por Tu Palabra,
por Tu invitación a seguirte, a serte fiel. Te pido la gracia
de perseverar junto a Ti, a no dejarme llevar por
tantas voces distintas a la tuya que traen daño a mi vida.
Permite que pueda estar atento(a) a Tu voluntad y
que pueda siempre acudir a Ti en cualquier situación de
mi vida. Que se realice mi vocación,
dame Señor Tu humildad y paz.
Reflect: We must grow in our Vocation
On this Word Day of Prayer for Vocations, we are reminded,
as baptized Catholics and all Christians, that our central vocation
is both a call to holiness and to service. “Holiness…
is the vocation of our times, of all of us,” said Pope Paul VI
in Vatican Council II. Pope John Paul II constantly called
upon young people and all of us to give our lives in service
as followers of Jesus Christ. We know that all vocations
flow from baptism. But what do we mean by the word
“vocation?” A good understanding of the word “vocation”
might well be considered within the following sequence of
statements: 1) Through the sacrament of baptism each person
receives a “call” or vocation. 2) God calls all who are
baptized to holiness and service. 3) This call is lived as a
single, married, ordained or consecrated person.
In this last statement, we understand that
“vocation” is to be lived as a life commitment.
Those who are single have responded to the
vocation of joyfully acknowledging that God
has called them to be a prophetic witness of
what it means to be a single, loving, committed
Christian in today’s world. Those who are
married have responded to the vocation of
joyfully relying upon a God who has called
them to a shared witness of what it means to
have a covenantal commitment of love in today’s
world. Those who are consecrated and
ordained have responded to the vocation of
joyfully journeying with God’s people as
priests, sisters, brothers and others who have
promised and vowed to grow in faith and holiness
while helping God’s people to do the
same. In each vocational commitment we are
called to be loving and supportive of one another.
The question is posed to you and me.
Do we have a familiarity with the voice of the
Good Shepherd in our lives? When God calls us to a commitment
of single, married, consecrated or ordained life have
we prepared ourselves to respond? And are we prepared to
continue that response every day of our lives? In 2002, Pope
John Paul II called for a joint U.S. and Canadian pastoral
plan to create a culture of vocations in North America. In
the plan we were all reminded that: “The vocational reality
of the Church calls for a deep respect for the complementarily
and interdependence of all Church vocations. How do we
prepare ourselves? Personal and communal prayer, frequent
reception of the sacraments, the reading of scripture, educating
ourselves in the faith, and being of service to one another
are ways in which we can more readily discern the Good
Shepherd’s beckoning voice in our daily lives. So let us pray
for vocations in our Church. We need committed men and
women who believe that their call to single, married, ordained
or consecrated life is from God. We need to support
each response of vocation and make sure each kind of vocation
is an encouraged and viable option for all of us.
Jesus, please give us your blessing.

My daughter, if I demand through you
that people revere My mercy, you
should be the first to distinguish yourself
by this confidence in My mercy. I
demand from you deeds for mercy,
which are to arise out of love for Me.
You are to show mercy to your
neighbors always and everywhere.
You must not shrink from this or try to
excuse or absolve yourself from it. I
am giving you three ways of exercising
mercy toward your neighbor: the
first—by deed, the second—by word,
the third—by prayer. In these three
degrees is contained the fullness of
mercy, and it is an unquestionable
proof of love for Me. By this means a
soul glorifies and pays reverence to My
mercy. Yes, the first Sunday after
Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there
must also be acts of mercy, and I demand
the worship of My mercy
through the solemn celebration of the
Feast and through the veneration of the
image which is painted. By means of
this image I shall grant many graces to
souls. It is to be a reminder of the demands
of My mercy, because even the
strongest faith is of no avail without
works. O my Jesus, You Yourself must
help me in everything, because You see
how very little I am and so I depend
solely on Your goodness, O God...

MISERICORDIA:

Hija Mía, si por medio de ti exijo de los
hombres el culto a Mi misericordia, tú
debes ser la primera en distinguirte por
la confianza en Mi misericordia. Exijo
de ti obras de misericordia que deben
surgir del amor hacia Mí. Debes mostrar
misericordia al prójimo siempre y
en todas partes. No puedes dejar de
hacerlo ni excusarte ni justificarte. Te
doy tres formas de ejercer misericordia
al prójimo: la primera – la acción, la
segunda – la palabra, la tercera – la
oración. En estas tres formas está contenida
la plenitud de la misericordia y
es el testimonio irrefutable del amor
hacia mí. De este modo el alma alaba y
adora Mi misericordia. Sí, el primer
domingo después de la Pascua es la
Fiesta de la Misericordia, pero también
debe estar presente la acción y pido se
rinda culto a Mi misericordia con la
solemne celebración de esta Fiesta y
con el culto a la imagen que ha sido
pintada. A través de esta imagen concederé
muchas gracias a las almas; ella
ha de recordar a los hombres las exigencias
de Mi misericordia, porque la
fe sin obras, por fuerte que sea, es inútil.
Oh Jesús mío, ayúdame en todo,
porque ves lo pequeña que soy, por eso
cuento únicamente con Tu bondad, Oh

Our Vocation and Good Shepherd
Christians given special graces and a particular mission
through Holy Orders and matrimony.
God has sought… to make marriage the sign of his love.
O Jesus, Lord of light and grace, O brightness of the Father's
face, O fountain of eternal light, you rise to break
the dark of night. How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
in a believer’s ear! It soothes our sorrows, heals our
wounds, and drives away our fear. It makes the wounded
spirit whole, and calms the troubled breast; ‘tis manna to
the hungry soul, and to the weary rest. Dear Name, the
rock on which I build, my shield and hiding-place, my
never-failing treasury, filled with boundless stores of
grace. Christ the Lord is risen again! Christ has broken
ev’ry chain! Hark, the angels shout for joy, singing evermore
on high, Alleluia! He who gave for us his life, who
for us endured the strife, is our Paschal Lamb today! We
too sing for joy, and say: Alleluia!

vocaciones,

religiosa.
Quizás te
habrás preguntado
acerca de tu proyecto de vida, de lo que
Dios quiere o espera de ti. En esta página queremos
orientarte. En primer lugar queremos que
sepas que en la Iglesia todos tenemos vocación,
es el llamado que Dios nos dirigió en su Hijo Jesús,
el día de nuestro bautismo, a ser sus hijos, es
el gran regalo de Dios para cada uno, la prueba de
su infinito amor por ti. El es quien sale a buscarte,
gratuitamente y sólo por amor. En segundo lugar,
queremos que sepas que las vocaciones sacerdotales,
diaconales, religiosas, son responsabilidad

orar y trabajar por las vocaciones. Para
cumplir este objetivo, en cada Diócesis existe o
debiera existir el Departamento de Pastoral Vocacional,
para animar en toda la Iglesia la promoción

La vocación nace en la familia.
Oremos en las familias, en nuestra Parroquia
por los jóvenes para que respondan a Dios con
todo su entendimiento para que tengamos siempre
suficientes servidores del altar para la celebración
de la Eucaristía y predicación de la Palabra de
Dios. Los enfermos ofrezcan sus sufrimientos por
las vocaciones sacerdotales para que siempre tengan
alguien que les traiga el Viático —
el sacramento de los enfermos.
