Book II: Rites & Rituals 141
It was a time of true Earth magick—realizing that the healing of the planet and our personal
healing are one and the same; visualizing our hopes and dreams for the world that will be when
the seedlings we planted have grown to maturity; releasing our tensions and fears into the healing
waters of Harbin’s hot springs; nourishing our bodies with the delicious food prepared by
Pagan Plates; and seeing old friends and meeting new ones. We are reclaiming the future by
planting the seeds of a world, with honor and respect for life and for the mysteries of nature.
We feel the pain and suffering of the Earth Mother and her green trees, as well
as their joy at knowing that at least some of human- kind hears the call, does care, and
is doing what it can to restore the balance.
Blessed be, little Tree,
Long may you live
And tall may you grow.
And blessed are we
To be among those who know.
II. Water
Prayer/Blessing to Use W ith Water
By Kari Lynn Eckholt
Place a goblet before you, one made of deep indigo blue, turquoise, or aqua
blue-green glass, or of pure clean-cut crystal—preferably something that fills you
with a sense of wonder and beauty. Fill a pitcher with pure clean water, and add a small
pinch of sea-salt to the water to best mirror our true and ancient relationship to water.
Center yourself, and if there are others present, silently pass the pitcher so that all may
say their own name—introducing themselves and the water that each carries in their own
body to the water in the pitcher, with each pouring some of the water into their own goblet
or glass. An alternate possibility is for the pitcher to be in the center of the group, with all
taking turns introducing themselves and passing the pitcher so each may have some in their
glass for the start of the actual blessing.
If you are solo, simply introduce yourself and pour a glass.
All participants should contemplate the waters running through their veins and through
the Earth, and contemplate that the salinity of the blood plasma of our bodies, the salinity of
the cerebral-spinal fluid bathing our nervous systems, and the salinity of our Great Mother
Ocean is nearly identical. If you are in a group, the leader should pick up the goblet/glass and
speak, for sound in water creates an incredibly powerful vibration (all others should simply
cradle their goblets and look into the water):
In this moment, we are holding a glass of
pure water, H 2 0, the lifeblood of our
Mother Earth and our very selves.
In this moment, we remember we are ONE
with all the waters of the universe,
always connected to all.
Each droplet of our water has traveled
over, under, and thru our world and
our universe endlessly, as part of an
ever-changing journey.
We remember we have been in the dirty
snowballs called comets, and in oceans
and seas, in rivers, lakes and streams.
We remember we live in the great glaciers,
and the snow on the mountain tops.
We remember we have been to the bottom
of the deepest ocean.
We remember we have risen as steam,
evaporated into clouds, fallen as rain,
snow, sleet, hail.
We remember we have both formed rocks,
and broken great mountains of
boulders, and carved riverbeds.
We remember we have risen as sap,
carrying the lifeblood of trees to their
joyful leaves and flowers.
