142. A Valentine Blessing for Love
May you be loved well and truly
May your spirit be held yet not too tightly
May your soul be appreciated in its
darkness and light
May you be told the truth with love and
compassion
May your body be worshipped and
pleasured and adored
May your feelings be honored and given
space to breathe
May the love you give be received ever more fully
May your dreams be listened to and encouraged
May you be given promises which are kept
May you be inspired to grow and laugh and
open your heart—again
May love grow within you, through you
and around you
May you be loved well and truly!
—Francesca Gentille, February 1999
143. Blessing of the Meal
Holy Mother Earth, Yours is the power
To grow, to destroy, to give birth.
We conjure You now by seed and by shoot,
By flower and fruit, by light and by love,
From below and above, in Your ancient names:
Koré, Demeter, Persephoné.
Grant us the blessings of Your body;
Thank you for the blessings of Your body!
—Moonrose
144. Grace
Thanks and blessing be
To the Sun and the Earth
For this bread and this wine, this fruit,
This meat, this salt, this food;
Thanks be and blessing to them
Who prepare it, who serve it;
Thanks and blessing to them who share it
And also the absent and the dead.
Thanks and blessing to them who bring it
May they not want;
To them who plant and tend it,
Harvest and gather it
May they not want;
Thanks and blessing to them who work
And blessing to them who cannot;
May they not want—
For their hunger sours the wine
And robs the taste from the salt.
Thanks be for the sustenance and strength
For our dance and the work of justice, of peace.
—Rafael Jesús González, 2002
145. Dream Blessing
Dreams to you and dreams so fine
Find the gates inside your mind
Open up and open wide
As you journey deep inside
And love the safety, bliss and blooms
In your mind of many rooms
Know you’re loved and dream so well
And that’s all I’ve got to tell!
—Jack Phoenix, 2/27/04
146. Sleep Blessing from the Goddess
Sleep now, beloved daughter of Mine.
Rest your mind and let Me heal your body.
Come to Me and I will give you strength and
courage.
When My eye shines on you, look in, and be
healed by Light.
Listen for My voice in your dreams, beloved.
I love you. I bless you. You are safe and well.
Good night, dear heart.
—Abigail Spinner McBride, 2002
147. ’Puter Blessing
Blessings on this fine machine,
May its data all be clean.
Let the files stay where they’re put,
Away from disk drives keep all soot.
From its screen shall come no whines,
Let in no spikes on power lines.
As Oaks were sacred to the Druids,
Let not the keyboard suffer fluids.
Disk Full shall be no more than rarity,
The memory shall not miss its parity.
From the modem shall come wonders,
Without line noise making blunders.
May it never catch a virus,
And all its software stay desirous.
Oh let the printer never jam,
And turn my output into spam.
I ask of Eris, Noble Queen,
Keep Murphy far from this machine!
