Section: DroefParty 2009 ----------- Deel: DroefFeest 2009 !!! Droeffeest 2009 !!! This year's Droeffeest is coming up again, and Saturday the 19th of September is the chosen date for this wonderful eventful thing. On this date there is however no moon whatsoever (it's the new moon then), we are this full into the Idealis electricity-project so we decided that thematically the party should be about illumination and enlightenment, to guard us from the darkness and to make up for the abscess of a full moon. So expect a lot of lights, candles and fires, to keep our spirits light and bright and to become enlightened during the night! The main stage of the Droeffeest will be on our main field were we want to kick off in the afternoon with workshops, information and food followed by bands in the evening. All barracks are asked to give parties during the night to keep our fire burning. Barrack’s 51 and 89 (surprisingly) already agreed on hosting a party then, hopefully all of you will have a great idea for a party as well, the more the better! The Common Barrack will off course also be a party place during the night, the continuation of the celebrations on the field, where we also plan to have some bands play until late at night and some groovy dj’s to keep everybody dancing. If you have any suggestions for bands, dj’s or other elements of the program, please let us know! Evaluation of Droeffeest 2008 Next to everything concerning Droeffeest that was very nice, there were also some things worth mentioning that need some thought so that we can improve it or prevent it from happening this year. - Budget. The intention of Droeffeest’s budget is to break even after the festival. If we do end up with profit, that money goes back into the party of the following year, for which we can decide to use it as a buffer or to invest it in something cool. Last year, we used the profit of the year before as a buffer, which was a good decision in the end. The unexpected expenses were quite high last year and we had less visitors during the night than expected, resulting in having less beers sold. So we didn’t reach the break even point then, luckily we were still able to refund all the money for the “Droef Garantie Plan”, but our buffer for this year has gotten considerably smaller. So this is something for us to keep in mind, we don’t want to commercialize things, but we do want to stay in business, party business that is! Samenvatting: Droeffeeest 2009! Het feest zal dit jaar gehouden worden op zaterdag 19 september, met het thema "verlichting".Er is behoefte aan: Medeorganisatoren, vrijwilligers, feestjes op barakken, bandjes en ideeen. Section: DroefParty 2009 ----------- Deel: DroefFeest 2009 - For the safety of the Droevendaal inhabitants and visitors we used a telephone list to contact each other in case of emergency. Last year we had to use it a couple of times, and it worked well. People were at the spot in minutes. In spite of our efforts, last year there were still some incidents around Droeffeest namely: • An incident near the Common Barrack where some people got mad at other people and decided that it would be cool to throw bottles at the Common Barrack and each other. • Some people though it was cool to burn some of our stuff laying around on campfires on the field • At the salsa party in 105 some guests made themselves unwanted by behaving badly and were asked to leave Droevendaal. Thanks to the telephone list we were safely able to do this. These points of attention make us realize once again that we can only pull of a Droeffeest if we work together the best we can. The Droeffeest committee The committee this year consists of: - Erik Koenen (95) President Hi, I’m the president of the droeffeest this year, which means that I should be involved with pretty much everything but then let all the others do the work, I think. So come to me for anything you would like to see or do at the droeffeest, and if you would like to add something special to the festival please let me hear about your great initiative and help us out with keeping up the high reputation of Droevendaal’s main party! erik.koenen@wur.nl - Leander Schuitman (95) Art deco and Bar Hi, in the weeks before the party I will supply you with the perfect excuse for neglecting your re-exam study activities. I will lead the realization of all the bright ideas concerning decoration and lighting around Droef. So if you have ideas for beautiful, creative, (realistic, fully fool and fire proof) designs, or if you just like to work on the objects, pleas contact me.(also if you do not have re-exams) Next to this I will be managing/assisting the bars and drinks logistics during the party. leander.schuitman@wur.nl - Melle Hochstenbach (51) Bar As I like (brewing) beer, I might be the chosen one to run the beers and bars this year, but as I like to do also many other things, I am lucky to have Leander by my side. Anyway, if you want to throw a party or do a cocktailbar, you can arrange something with me for buying and selling drinks. And if you think you have other nice projects where I could be of help, let me know, because I love doing (or at least starting) projects. melle.hochstenbach@wur.nl - Harmen Riphagen (51) Program Hi, I will be responsible for the programming of this year’s Droeffeest, and as I’m a smelly hippie, I will be booking lots of hippie-acts and maybe something like reggae! If you like more variation, suggest what bands you would like to see, let me know and I will try to get them to play on the 19th! Also for workshops and other elements of the festival program you can give me your suggestions. My motto is: the more bands the better, budget or no budget! harmenrip@hotmail.com - Michiel Lampers (89) Main Stage As technical person of the committee I am responsible for designing the main stage and for making sure that every party barrack gets the right sound and light equipment. I will also assist Harmen with ideas and bookings of acts. So if you like building stages, if you are a soundman and/or if you have brilliant ideas for bands or acts let me know and let’s do it together! michiellampers@live.nl - vacancy (male or female) Communication We would like to have some more (so could be more than one vacancy) people involved in the organization, especially some fresh Droef inhabitants would be welcome! Furthermore, we have nothing against having females in the organization, so if you are one, don’t be scared to join us, we won’t bite. We ask especially for someone who could take care of communication, which would include having contact with the organizing barracks, organizing all the contact data like phone numbers and email-addresses and other things as well. If you would be interested in doing this, or if you want to join the committee to do other things, let us know!
