Abstract photography has in it‘s core, the intention of fulfilling our imaginary by the simple use of form, color and lines. Daruma‘s photos are prime examples of a reality within. Unlike any other artistic interpretation, abstraction in photography draws it‘s uniqueness from an acute insight of our surroundings. As if an extra layer of unorthodox perception is somehow required to spot true abstraction in a world which is overly detailed.

ministract...
After last issue of DOF I ended up feeling I hadn´t quite explain minimalism in all
it´s scope and I´m pretty sure I´m still not doing it with this one. Nonetheless I will
be quite satisfied by at least present the two most prominent interpretations.
In a world of new trends, the concept of ministract fits like a glove and even
though you might not agree with it, it sure sums up what is quickly becoming a
photographic technique and an artistic expression.
My own interpretation of ministract, is one I´m already putting into practise with
some experimental subjects (to be shown in future issues) and that combines what
I understand as true from both concepts. On one hand, through minimalism, you
have what can be identified, what can in a closer look communicate itself and be
just that, pure and minimal, even if just at a technical level. On the other hand, the
introduction of abstraction in our perception of this same subject, brings into light
what is not immediately there, what the viewer as to make of it.
This kind of topics always brings me down to more theoretical thoughts that I´m
sure not everybody will be agreeing with... thankfully DOF is about the photos that
are featured here not about what I ramble over them...
