How safe is the water on
your premises?
Almost every building in the UK has a water supply of some kind
and we assume that the water is clean, fresh and suitable for use.
Rentokil Specialist Hygiene has been
providing a comprehensive Water Quality
Management service nationwide for over
30 years. Operating from 10 regional offi ces,
we have expertise in providing quality water
solutions to a wide range of businesses
and organisations, including the NHS, local
councils, hotels, retail outlets, offi ces,
housing associations, primary care trusts
and the professions.
Water systems that are badly designed,
that are in a poor state of general repair or
are operated at unsuitable temperatures
can become a breeding ground for a variety
of bacteria. Within the system, dirt, scale
and debris can act as a source of nutrients
for E coli, TVC and perhaps most alarmingly,
Legionella.
Rentokil Specialist Hygiene will make
recommendations for any modifi cations
and renovations needed to the services,
which may be necessary in order to ensure
regulatory compliance with the current
guidelines.
Legionella Control
Legionella pneumophila, the bacteria
that causes Legionnaires’ disease, occurs
naturally within water and can become a
serious risk to health and in some cases
even prove fatal.
It is for this reason that the HSE’s
Approved Code of Practice L8 ‘the control
of Legionella bacteria in water systems’
provides specifi c guidance on the best
way to reduce the risk to building
occupants – a message that is reinforced in
the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Rentokil Specialist Hygiene provides a
complete Legionella testing and control
service for businesses throughout the UK.
Our teams of certifi ed Legionella experts
are fully aware of all HSE guidelines
and provide a complete Legionella risk
assessment and control service. With
Legionella being such a common bacteria
in water, it is imperative that all businesses
eff ectively control their Legionella
Bacterium levels. Failure to do so can
lead not only to the outbreak of
Legionnaires’ disease, but can seriously
damage your company’s reputation.
WCMS – Watersafe Legionella
Compliance Management Service
This is an online Legionella management
tool that provides a complete ‘compliance
overview’ of one or multiple buildings in
an ‘electronic logbook’ system. The system
provides a compliance overview, real-time
notifi cations of any L8 non-conformances,
management of non-conformances
and online Risk Assessments. Visit
Water Management Systems
Rentokil Specialist Hygiene provides a
complete water management system and
service that meets all of the requirements
of The Health and Safety at Work Act of
1974, the revised HSE Approved Code of
Regulations of 1999. As such, our Watersafe
system is eff ective and professional and
designed to provide you with complete
peace of mind.
1. Risk Assessment
The HSE’s ACoP L8 states that every
building should undertake a suitable
and suffi cient risk assessment. In
buildings occupied by fi ve or more
people the results should be formally
recorded. This document should be
reviewed or updated regularly or a
minimum of every two years. Stored
water, drinking water, process water,
closed systems and cooling towers are
all covered by ACoP water quality
regulations. Therefore, to safely manage
your water quality it is vital that these
water systems are properly assessed for
their water quality risk. Rentokil Hygiene’s
water quality risk assessment consultants
will provide a comprehensive assessment
of your water systems. The assessment will
enable you to choose the correct course
of action for ensuring your water quality
standards meet all ACoP regulations.
2. Remedial Works
Once the risk assessment has been
completed, our trained water quality
experts will also off er a comprehensive
range of remedial services and water safety
solutions, which include tank lining, tank
replacement, system disinfections and all
necessary plumbing alterations for your
water system. By using our expert water
quality risk assessment services you can
take the eff ort out of managing your water
quality.
3. Ongoing Monitoring
An integral part of the ACoP’s
requirements is the need to undertake
regular monitoring and checks on the
systems to ensure that they are operating
within the guideline parameters.
Our water quality and contamination
consultants will provide a reliable and
cost-eff ective water system maintenance
service, which will ensure your water
systems are kept uncontaminated. This
includes regular analysis of systems,
along with adjustments to the treatment
regime. Our comprehensive water quality
