Doug sits in his car across the street. He has been<br />
there a while and his curiosity gets the better of him.<br />
42 INT. LAUNDROMAT - DAY<br />

<strong>The</strong>re is a small counter selling cheap coffee and sundry<br />
items at one end run by a VIETNAMESE SHOPKEEPER. Doug<br />
buys a coffee and a HERALD and sits near the front,<br />
flashing a few looks toward Claire who is getting clothes<br />
out of the washer in the back. He sits down in some<br />
seats near the entrance and buries his nose in the paper.<br />
After a few beats on Doug:<br />
Excuse me.<br />
CLAIRE (O.S.)<br />
Doug looks up, startled, to see that Claire is standing<br />
over him.<br />
Hmm?<br />
DOUG<br />
CLAIRE<br />
Are you doing laundry?<br />
Huh?<br />
DOUG<br />
CLAIRE<br />
Do you have laundry here?<br />
Now?<br />
DOUG<br />
CLAIRE<br />
Any time this week.<br />
No.<br />
DOUG<br />
CLAIRE<br />
No, you’re not doing laundry?<br />
DOUG<br />
Just getting a coffee.<br />
He indicates the counter where the little COFFEE POT is.<br />
CLAIRE<br />
You came in here to get coffee?<br />
