Phytochemicals that Boost Immunity: Why does Echinamide work?
Echinacea’s most important phytochemicals, a name
for active plant constituents, fall into six categories:
1 polysaccharides
2 cichoric acid and other
caffeic acid derivatives
3 alkylamides
4 flavonoids
5 essential oils and
6 glycoproteins.
These compounds, and how they affect immune
system function, are discussed in the next chapter. Not
all echinacea — either in the field or in a bottle —
contains all these components and some powdered
products don’t contain ANY active ingredients! One of
the unique features of Echinamide echinacea is that it
contains ALL these components and is especially high
in E. purpurea’s three key actives: polysaccharides,
cichoric acid and alkylamides. In fact, Echinamide has
guaranteed high levels of these three compounds,
unlike any other echinacea product on the market. This
is because of its unique, patented multiple extraction
process and the research that has gone into producing
Echinamide.
Since echinacea contains a wide assortment of
chemical constituents with immune enhancing effects,
it is important for manufacturers to insure sufficient
levels of these active compounds. Unfortunately, most
