The girl between Olof and Maj Lotta is
their grandchild Ellen who was born
out of wedlock with an unknown
father. Her mother Anna, was
probably mentally retarded and was
unwilling to emigrate. She remained
at Skeppsta. There she later gave birth
to one more daughter, her third, also
born out of wedlock.
As a child, Ellen had shown a healthy
personality and her grandparents
wanted to bring her with to the U.S.
Here she married Georg Nelson and
had many children and, later,
grandchildren.
This photo is taken around 1895 when
Ellen was seven years of age.
