Link to Roots in Narke - Helling

Two miles northwest of Skeppsta
was the Riseberga monastery once
situated. It was a cistercienser
convent founded at the end of the
12th century. It owned 224 farms,
mills, mines, churches and more in
six counties. Because of King Gustav
Vasa´s reformation, the monastry
was closed in 1530, and burned
down in 1546 and became a ruin.
