Skeppsta village is very old. During the 13th century it belonged to the Riseberga monastery. The little cluster of farms consisted of Norrgården (1 mantal) and Sörgården. Norrgården was a former home of a master sergeant and now with Olof Jansson as tenant. (On the map marked 16). Sörgården was divided between farmer Lars Larsson (½ mantal) and Province Governor Erik Johan Bergensköld (½ mantal), who did not live there. This photo is not of the old Skeppsta village, but it could very well have looked like this. 116

Here lived the tenant Olof Jansson and Maj Lotta from 1852 until 1862, with their five daughters; Anna, Stina, Clara, Augusta and Maria. From 1854 to 1859 they employed Lars Erik Pehrsson as farmhand. He was the brother of Maj Lotta. In I858 he married Christina, sister of Olof Jansson. In 1862, Lars Erik took over the assignment as tenant. 117
