Unit 9 – Development of professional skills within
children's education

This unit will provide you with the opportunity to develop your professional skills and to apply
theoretical knowledge in a practical environment. You will consider the professional
standards expected of practitioners including appropriate dress codes, communication
skills, confidentiality and good attendance and timekeeping. You will also gain knowledge
and understanding of the planning cycle and how to meet the needs of individual and
groups of children. Practical placements are a key feature of this unit.
