participate in mediation at far lower rates than individual employees do.<br />

Research that is able to answer questions surrounding this issue will be<br />

valuable to research <strong>and</strong> practice.<br />

ConClusion<br />

Third-party dispute resolution has exploded in popularity during the<br />

last 20 years or so. It has proven itself to have many advantages over traditional<br />

court-based approaches to resolving <strong>conflict</strong>s. Yet, there is still<br />

much we do not know or fully appreciate about this phenomenon. We<br />

hope that this chapter <strong>of</strong>fers some fresh insights on this important issue.<br />
