Mara Olekalns is Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Management (Negotiation) at the Melbourne<br />

Business School, University <strong>of</strong> Melbourne. Her research focuses<br />

on modeling the relationships between communication sequences <strong>and</strong><br />

outcomes in negotiation. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Olekalns’ more recent research also<br />

examines trust, deception, <strong>and</strong> turning points in negotiation. Her research<br />

has published in Academy <strong>of</strong> Management Journal, Journal <strong>of</strong> Applied <strong>Psychology</strong>,<br />

Human Communication Research, Journal <strong>of</strong> Experimental Social <strong>Psychology</strong>,<br />

<strong>and</strong> Personality <strong>and</strong> Social <strong>Psychology</strong> Bulletin. She is on the editorial<br />

boards <strong>of</strong> Group Decision <strong>and</strong> Negotiation, Journal <strong>of</strong> Organizational Behavior,<br />

<strong>and</strong> Negotiation <strong>and</strong> Conflict Management Research.<br />

Julie B. Olson-Buchanan is Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Management <strong>and</strong> Chair <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Management, Craig School <strong>of</strong> Business, California State<br />

University, Fresno. She earned her Ph.D. from the University <strong>of</strong> Illinois<br />

where she was a National Science Foundation fellow. Her research interests<br />

include <strong>conflict</strong> in organizations, technology-based selection, <strong>and</strong><br />

virtual teams. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Olson-Buchanan’s work has appeared in such<br />

journals as Journal <strong>of</strong> Applied <strong>Psychology</strong>, Academy <strong>of</strong> Management Journal,<br />

Personnel <strong>Psychology</strong>, <strong>and</strong> Journal <strong>of</strong> Vocational Behavior. She is co-editor <strong>of</strong><br />

the book Innovations in Computerized Assessment <strong>and</strong> has authored several<br />

SIOP Frontiers chapters. She currently holds a Craig Fellowship <strong>and</strong> was<br />

Program Chair for the Society for Industrial <strong>and</strong> Organizational <strong>Psychology</strong><br />

Conference (2006).<br />

Dean G. Pruitt is Distinguished Scholar in Residence at the Institute for<br />

Conflict Analysis <strong>and</strong> Resolution at George Mason University <strong>and</strong> SUNY<br />

Distinguished Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Emeritus in the Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>Psychology</strong> at the<br />

University at Buffalo: State University <strong>of</strong> New York. He has received the<br />

Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association for Conflict<br />

Management <strong>and</strong> the Harold D. Lasswell Award for Distinguished<br />

Scientific Contribution to Political <strong>Psychology</strong> from the International<br />

Society <strong>of</strong> Political <strong>Psychology</strong>. He is author or co-author <strong>of</strong> Social Conflict:<br />

Escalation, Stalemate, <strong>and</strong> Settlement; Negotiation in Social Conflict; <strong>and</strong> Negotiation<br />

Behavior.<br />

Linda L. Putnam is the George T. <strong>and</strong> Gladys H. Abell Pr<strong>of</strong>essor in the<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Communication at Texas A&M University. Her research<br />

focuses on negotiation <strong>and</strong> organizational <strong>conflict</strong>, discourse <strong>and</strong> negotiation,<br />

<strong>and</strong> language analysis in organizations. She is the co-editor <strong>of</strong> six<br />

books, including <strong>The</strong> Sage H<strong>and</strong>book <strong>of</strong> Organizational Discourse, <strong>The</strong> New<br />

H<strong>and</strong>book <strong>of</strong> Organizational Communication, <strong>and</strong> Communication <strong>and</strong> Negotiation.<br />

She has published over 100 journal articles <strong>and</strong> book chapters on
