Security
• Security represents the biggest challenge, posing dangers to all
kinds of NGOs in our area of operations - Nangarhar.
• Security is a big threat continuously, especially in the field, where
our staff are particularly in danger.
• The workers, teachers and students at our co-operative partner in
the field (SHIAO) suffer from fairly permanent psychological stress
due to potential dangers.
• The problems are distinct for SHIAO’s female staff and all female
students – females are a particular target for aggressors.
• The local staff (office in Jalalabad) manage to cope well under these
conditions, entirely due to the good relations and good reputation
they have achieved in the community groups at our home-based
school areas.
