CS mill stands Convertible stand. The core technology of the continuous mill is the innovative <strong>SMS</strong> <strong>Meer</strong> CS stand design. Made of fabricated and non-cast components, this design merges high rigidity with low weight and reduced manufacturing and operational cost. Finishing area Cooling bed and straighteners. The cooling bed is a combination rake-type and chain conveyor and has a quick delivery system for lighter products. The rake-type initial area ensures proper material straightening. The chain conveyor area is equipped with water spray cooling, operating in the low temperature range, to improve the capacity of the cooling bed. The cooling bed length is (82 m) 270’ and it is (22 m) 72’ wide. The single-line horizontal straightener is of cantilever design of the newest generation. The machine is equipped with eight
Magnetic stacker. Saw in operation. Stand change in the continuous mill. Straightener. straightening rolls and has a pitch of 1,400/1,250/1,100 mm, ideal for straightening the wide product range. All rolls are individually powered. The material is guided in the straightener by two vertical guide rollers at the entry and exit sides. All straightener rolls can accommodate two or three straightening discs. The distance between the straightening discs is adjustable. Thus, for beams and channel series with the same inner radius, straightening roll changes can be waived with great improvement in flexibility and plant availability. A quick-changing system with changing crane is provided. Finishing area. At the exit of the straightener, the beams are side transferred by a chain conveyor. At the entry side, a turn-up device allows inspection of the straightened bars. The layer collecting bed is 75 m long and 14 m wide. The layer is then transferred by roller table to the cutting area. Provisions were made for a future installation of a multi-strand straightener and cold shear in order to guarantee higher production rates also for smaller and lighter products. The cut to length is performed by two fixed saws, each equipped with stop-gage. Provisions were made for a future third movable saw. After cutting, the material is piled by magnetic stackers and transferred to the shipping bays after strapping. The cooling bed and finishing area have space allowance for future capacity increases.
