The name Sollefteå is said to have been derived from "the sunny region". These regions
around Ångermanälven river, with its sandy river banks and surrounding hills have
caused people to meet here for time immemorial.
Maybe this is why recent sur veys have shown that visitors to the Ådalen valley are particularly
enthusiastic about the hospitality they meet here , today. Writers, ar tist and athletes
seem to thrive in its friendly climate . Lars Molin, for example , grew up in Ramsele ,
and Kerstin Thor vall and Laura Fitinghoff are from the central district where actress Ingrid
Thulin also lived. The cyclist Emma Johansson, biathlonist Helena Ekholm and skiers
Billan and Håkan Westin are others who have shone through.

C3 KLOCKHUSET
Torbjörn Holmer has collected clocks since
the 1960s and now exhibits his 750 table,
wall and standing clocks of 4 decades in a
renovated, extended barn.With the help
of his brother Lars, a former architect, he
has created a space for time. In addition to
guided tours, Torbjörn and his wife arrange
events throughout the year. These range from
jazz concerts to religious services. Guided
tours and refreshments can be arranged all

C3 GÅLSJÖ BRUK
The 18th-century iron works and manor
house, blacksmiths and the smiths' housing
have been preserved and complemented.
The blacksmiths is in regular use today. Wide
choice of activities: illuminated exercise trail,
forest trail, bathing,canoeing and fishing. Also
accomodation and conferences with a wide

C3 ANCIENT REMAINS
BJÖRKÅ-HOLM Björkåfältet contains
remains from the Iron Age and is the largest,
raised-burial-ground in Ångermanland county.
The only country estate in Norrland is also

The museum develops and preserves artefacts
of cultural historic value via four exhibitions:
prehistoric, forest, river and defence.
Temporary exhibitions are also arranged.

CAMPING There are three heated, out-door
pools at Risöns bad in the middle of Sollefteå.
Play pool and water chute for the more playful.
Beachvolleyball court. The campsite also
has a go-kart track, climbing wall and minigolf
course,street basket ball and tennis courts.

C3 NIPSTADSFISKET
Nipstadsfishing is perfect for those in search
of comfortable, easily available fishing. Exciting
salmon and trout fishing in the Ångermanälven
river in the middle of Sollefteå with 200
m of fishing on both sides of the river.The
season lasts from April to November with
high-season June - August. 12 Fishing permits

B4 GRANINGE BRUK
A blast furnace and hammer mill were
built in 1673, but the works was later
converted for the timber industry. The helve
hammer, water wheel and manor house

In the summer there is an antique shop selling
books and curios, as well as a flea market.

B3 RICKARDS TRAKTOR- OCH MASKIN-
MUSEUM The mechanically oriented will find
much of interest among the 50 or so tractors
and machines in this collection, including
a BM 10 half-track from 1950 and a steam
engine from 1910. Entrance fee. Running day -

B3 MEÅFORSEN
Meåforsen is the only remaining natural rapids
in the Faxälven river and is very popular
with grayling fishers. The rapids are about 25
km long. 0620-420 65.
A2 WATER SKIING
Have a go at water skiing, trick skiing, slalom,
wakeboard, kneeboard and scurfer is found at
Rammsjön lake, Edsele. Wetsuits and life vests
are available. BBQ places and sauna. Disabledpersons
