Örnsköldsvik lies in the nor thern par t of the High Coast. People have lived on this spot since
the Iron Age , and Örnsköldsvik has been a town, officially since 1894, a successful town that
generates an air of contentment. The municipality today has 55 000 residents . And it provides
visitors in search of action and adventure with a wide choice of activities . The countr yside is
also ver y variable with coastline and cliffs , high land and forests .

D3 SKULESKOGENS NATIONALPARK
Within Skuleskogen national park with its
ravined landscape, natural forest and stone
slabs, the highland meets the sea. Don't
miss Slåttdalsskrevan, a majestic ravine in
Slåttdalsberget. The High Coast trail passes
through the park.

A varying wandering trail through the World
Heritage Site and Skuleskogen national park,
high in the hills and close to the sea. 13
stages between Örnsköldsvik and the High

The recreation area with its trails and high
land pastures bring many visitors to Nätra
Fjällskog all year round.The area lies on
the border of Kramfors and Örnsköldsvik
municipalities.
D3 NÄTTERLUNDS KONST
A number of works of art have been installed
in public environments both in and outdoors
in Nätra and Sidensjö. Jonas Nätterlund, who
was born in Drömme, left his estate to Nätra
municipality on his death. The Nätterlund
society administers the purchase of art work

Archipelago boat m/f Ulvön traffics the waters
between Ulvön, Trysunda and Strängön

E3 BALESUDDEN NATURE RESERVE
The distinctly formed Balesudden forms an
excellent navigation marker for seafarers, and
the view from it is equally impressive. Deep
lakes and the bewitching Balestjärn with crystal
clear water. The High Coast trail passes
through here.
E3 TRYSUNDA
The Trysunda nature reserve island is one
of the most beautiful in the archipelago. The
harbour is well protected in a deep bay and is
a very popular destination for boaters. Trails
lead from the harbour to several bathing
bays, view points etc. There is also a fishing
museum, guest harbour, service facilities,
accommodation, shop and café. The fishers'
chapel from 1655 is one of the best preserved
along the Ångermanland county coast.

Ulvön island lies in Örnsköldsvik's archipelago,
at the heart of the High Coast. It
actually comprises two islands, north and
south Ulvön. Ulvön harbour is on the north
island, well protected in Ulvösundet. Ulvön is
perhaps best known for its fermented herring
'surströmming', which was produced here for
over 100 years. About 40 people live on the
island all year round, but the summer sees far
more folk and activity. Restaurants, a hotel,
hostel, cabin rental, shop and many fine old
buildings are all found here in this beautiful
archipelago environment. A variety of
entertainment and events are also arranged
during the summer. Midsummer celebration,
Ulvö regatta, surströmming premiere and
Ulvödagen (Ulvön day) are all occasions not
to be missed.

E4 ULVÖ GAMLA KAPELL
Ulvö chapel dating from 1622 is the oldest
accurately dated wooden building in Ångermanland
county. Well preserved paintings by

Sandviken fishing village on Ulvön is three
hundred years old; the old fishermen's sheds
have been renovated and are now tourist
