IDA includes approximately 38 different livestock categories, dependent on
livestock category, weight class and age. Each of these subcategories is subdivided
according to housing type and manure type, which results in the region
of 200 different combinations of subcategories and housing type (Table
6.3). The emission is calculated from each of these subcategories and then
aggregated in accordance with the livestock categories given in the NFR. It is
important to point out that changes in the emission and the implied emission
factor over the years are not only a result of changes in the number of
animals, but also depend on changes in the allocation of subcategories,
changes in feed consumption, changes in housing type and changed practices
with regard to the handling of livestock manure in relation to storage
and application.
