The subcategory &RPPHUFLDO DQG LQVWLWXWLRQDO SODQWV has low fuel consumption<br />

and emissions compared to the other stationary combustion emission source<br />

categories. Figure 3.51 shows the time series <strong>for</strong> fuel consumption and emissions.<br />

The fuel consumption in commercial/institutional plants has decreased 17 %<br />

since 1990 and there has been a change of fuel type. The fuel consumption<br />

consists mainly of gas oil and natural gas. The consumption of gas oil has<br />

decreased and the consumption of natural gas has increased since 1990. The<br />

consumption of wood and bi<strong>og</strong>as has also increased. The wood consumption<br />

in 2010 was 4.8 times the consumption in 1990 (see Figure 3.46).<br />

The SO2 emission has decreased 93 % since 1990. The decrease is a result of<br />

both the change of fuel from gas oil to natural gas and of the lower sulphur<br />

content in gas oil and in residual oil. The lower sulphur content (0.05 % <strong>for</strong><br />

gas oil since 1995 and 0.7 % <strong>for</strong> residual oil since 1997) is a result of Danish<br />

tax laws (DEPA, 1998).<br />

The NOx emission was 38 % lower in 2010 than in 1990. The decrease is<br />

mainly a result of the lower fuel consumption but also the change from gas<br />
