Curriculum Vitae
Maddalena Venturoli was born in Rome, in 1970. In 1989 she got her diploma in classical
studies at “Liceo Classico Giulio Cesare” in Rome. In 1998 she graduated cum
laude in physics at “Università La Sapienza” of Rome, with a thesis on Molecular Dynamics
of Myoglobin, under the supervision of prof. dr. Giovanni Ciccotti. Between
1998 and 2002 she did her doctoral research at the “Universiteit van Amsterdam”,
with the supervision of prof. dr. ir. Berend Smit. The results of this research are the
subject of this thesis. In 2003 she started to work as a post-doc at the University College
of London in the group of prof. dr. Peter V. Coveney within the UK RealityGrid
project, and in collaboration with Schlumberger Cambridge Research, on the topic
of lattice-Bolzmann simulations of flow in porous media.
