Forces behind industrialisation
- Stricter legislative standards
- Concentration of retail sales
- Traceability compliance and costs
- Small/medium abattoir not producing added value
products
- Increased imports and decrease of domestic
production
Conclusions and next steps.
- Mobile slaughterhouse per se not cost effective
- Must be integrated with processing and local
marketing of the meat (Add value/shorten supply chain)
- Same problem as other European countries with
intrepretation and costs of hygienic regulations.
- Main weaknesses:
- Producers thinking
- Need more information and know how/skills of
customers requirements, product development
and design and market development
