to design fibers with a simplified geometry inspired from the optimization, which<br />
will be easier to fabricate and have a significant improvement of the energy flow.<br />
However, the more the geometry deviates from the optimized design the more the<br />
performance decreases due to an increased overlap with the cladding.<br />
The presented method can be extended to design other kinds of photonic-crystal<br />
fibers, as index-guiding fibers, and other types of objective functions can be tested in<br />
order to optimize for dispersion properties and non-linear effects. The optimization<br />
can be done for a wavelength range as described in section 3.3 in order to get<br />
broadband solutions.
