1. Initiation <strong>of</strong> Compla<strong>in</strong>t<br />

The <strong>Faculty</strong> Conference is <strong>in</strong>itiated by <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor <strong>of</strong> record, who<br />

requests <strong>the</strong> meet<strong>in</strong>g with <strong>the</strong> Accused to discuss <strong>the</strong> alleged misconduct.<br />

Should <strong>the</strong> Accused not choose to participate <strong>in</strong> a <strong>Faculty</strong> Conference, <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>structor should forward <strong>the</strong> case to OSI for <strong>in</strong>vestigation.<br />

2. Participants<br />

The <strong>Faculty</strong> Conference <strong>in</strong>volves <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor <strong>of</strong> record and <strong>the</strong> Accused.<br />

The <strong>Faculty</strong> Conference may also <strong>in</strong>volve Witnesses and a representative<br />

from OSI if requested by ei<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor or <strong>the</strong> Accused.<br />

3. Process<br />

Dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> <strong>Faculty</strong> Conference, <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor <strong>of</strong> record expla<strong>in</strong>s <strong>the</strong><br />

alleged misconduct, support<strong>in</strong>g Information, and <strong>the</strong> Rights <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Accused. The Accused has <strong>the</strong> opportunity to provide 1) his/her response<br />

to alleged misconduct, 2) support<strong>in</strong>g Information, and 3) Witnesses.<br />

4. Conclusion<br />

If <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor f<strong>in</strong>ds <strong>the</strong> Accused not responsible, <strong>the</strong> case is<br />

closed.<br />

If <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor f<strong>in</strong>ds <strong>the</strong> Accused responsible, but <strong>the</strong> Accused<br />

does not admit responsibility, <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor forwards <strong>the</strong> case to<br />

OSI for <strong>in</strong>vestigation.<br />

If <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor f<strong>in</strong>ds <strong>the</strong> Accused responsible, and <strong>the</strong> Accused<br />

acknowledges responsibility, <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor proposes a <strong>Faculty</strong><br />

Resolution <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g 1) a Sanction <strong>of</strong> Discipl<strong>in</strong>ary Warn<strong>in</strong>g, or<br />

Discipl<strong>in</strong>ary Probation, 2) a grade penalty, and 3) an educational<br />

component.<br />

If <strong>the</strong> Accused agrees to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Faculty</strong> Resolution, <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>structor<br />

forwards <strong>the</strong> <strong>Faculty</strong> Resolution to OSI for consideration. OSI will<br />

determ<strong>in</strong>e whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> Accused has prior discipl<strong>in</strong>ary history, <strong>in</strong><br />

which case <strong>the</strong> case will be <strong>in</strong>vestigated by OSI, <strong>in</strong> accordance<br />

with D.4.<br />

If <strong>the</strong> Accused does not agree to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Faculty</strong> Resolution, <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>structor forwards <strong>the</strong> case to OSI.<br />

If <strong>the</strong> Accused has prior discipl<strong>in</strong>ary history <strong>the</strong> case will be<br />

forwarded to OSI for <strong>in</strong>vestigation, <strong>in</strong> accordance with Section<br />

D.4.<br />

5. Implementation<br />

The Accused is formally notified <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> proposed <strong>Faculty</strong><br />

Resolution by OSI, accord<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> communication guidel<strong>in</strong>es <strong>in</strong><br />

Section D.2.<br />
