Assumption and Calculation
This amount of exported products does not include the amount of electrical and electronic devices and
automotive parts because these plastics are imported with the electrical and electronic industry and
automotive industry.
Thus, 949,077 tonnes (pure plastic products) was used as the exported product flow in the material
flow of plastics in Thailand. The assumption is this amount includes only thermoplastic products
(Custom Department, 2013).
The amount of plastic product generation is 2,568,123 tonnes/year because PIU presented that 90%-
95% of raw material (masterbatch) was changed into products. Thus, the assumption is 90% of
thermoplastic materials was changed into plastic products, but it was deducted by the amount of
exported product before put in the material flow (PIU, 2010).
90% of thermoplastic pellet consumption (3,192,000 tonnes/year) was 2,872,800 tonnes/year of
thermoplastic products. 90% of imported thermoplastic pellets (716,000 tonnes/year) was 644,400
tonnes/year of thermoplastic products. Thus, the total thermoplastic products were 3,517,200
tonnes/year. This amount was deducted by 949,077 tonnes of exported products, so the thermoplastic
products were consumed in the plastic consumption process of material flow was 2,568,123 tonnes in
2010

90%-95% of raw material (masterbatch) was changed into products. Thus, the assumption is 90% of
raw material (masterbatch) is changed into plastic products, and it does not imported and exported
(PIU, 2010).
