Unlike other systems, The Red Triangle Electronic Power Steering System is completely hidden underneath the dashboard so the existing steering arrangement remains unchanged and therefore retains the standard steering ratio and set-up. Enjoy driving your Alvis but find the steering too heavy? The system has been exclusively developed for Red Triangle using our works drawings and data. The brackets are designed to fit the original mounting points of each particular Alvis model, so no holes are drilled, no cutting or welding to the chassis or body and the car can easily be converted back to its original configuration. Similarly under the bonnet there are no changes - everything remains as original. Our electronic power steering system has several advantages over a conventional hydraulic system. The amount of assistance is fully adjustable and is speed / load sensitive. The motor only uses power when steering assistance is required whilst a hydraulic pump is operating continuously when the engine is running. A typical hydraulic set-up uses around 4 horsepower and therefore consumes extra fuel even when driving in a straight line! Because the Red Triangle Electronic Power Steering System is speed sensitive it will ensure the steering is light at low speeds when you need it and you can adjust the amount of assistance to your own personal requirement. It operates without making a sound, it cannot leak and is completely maintenance free. The Red Triangle Electronic Power Steering System is exclusive to Red Triangle and is fitted in our own workshops by our specially trained technicians. All work is carried out to British Standards ISO 9000 and comes with a full Red Triangle warranty.
