Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living
and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Mary Anne Wilkie was born on a beautiful day, the 22nd of July 1916. Mary Anne
was the oldest daughter of a very large family born to Joe F. and Elise (Granboise)
Wilkie in Belcourt, ND. Her early years were spent caring for her younger brothers
and sisters as her mother died at a young age.
Mary Anne’s first marriage resulted in 6 children. Her entire family and work life
consisted of caring for people. She worked for various service industries and
hospitals in the capacity of nurse’s aide.
In 1952 Mary Anne met Andrew Wentz while working in Minot, ND. They were
married October 10, 1952 in Great Falls, MT. To this union one daughter was
born. Mary Anne and Andy lived their entire married life in Williston, ND where
they raised their family and where Andrew passed away in 1990.
Mary Anne worked for many years as a nurse’s aide at the Bethel Lutheran Home,
and many a Christmas were spent with Mary Anne and daughters in tow visiting
residents, who had nowhere to go for the holidays, with the girls singing Christmas
carols and enduring lutefisk and meat balls!! Summers brought the residents out for
picnics on her lawn at the little yellow house on 8th Avenue.
Mary Anne was very good with crafts, and she was known to have anything readily
available for any craft the grandkids were involved in.
Always ready with a quick comment Mary Anne had a wonderful sense of humor.
She will be missed by her family very much, and we know if there’s a K-Mart, Wal-
Mart or any “Mart” in heaven, Mary Anne will be there!
Mary Anne was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Trenton’s Senior
Citizens Club. She loved shopping and playing Bingo. Always known for her good
fashion sense, Mary Anne is brightening the runway in Heaven!!!
Surviving Mary Anne are her four daughters, Gertrude “Dolly” Rosales of Kerrville,
TX, Rose Ramberg of Roberts, MT, Deborah (Brent) Meyhoff of Mandan, ND,
and Sandra (Doug) Iverson of rural Williston; three brothers, Steven Wilkie of
Portland, OR, Harold and Clarence Wilkie of Belcourt; fifteen grandchildren,
twenty-six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; a daughter, Loretta Fisketjon;
and four sisters.
