Spot on the <strong>European</strong> Ph.D. on S.R. & C. academic life
Among the leading scholars from the
teaching staff of the <strong>European</strong> Ph.D.
on S .R. & C. Jorge Correia <strong>Jesuino</strong>
has been one of the most pro-active
scholar since 1992. He has
personally contributed to the formal
recognition of the <strong>European</strong> PhD on
Social Representations and
Communication joint degree,
coordinated by the University of
Rome La Sapienza, by I.S.C.T.E.
Academic Senate.
He has also been very consistent in
participating in the whole series of
the 10 editions of the yearly
International Summer Schools, giving
lectures on plenary sessions and
stimulating a variety of didactic
interactive sessions.

Tutoring and co-tutoring international research trainees
As main tutor or co-tutor of some
of the <strong>European</strong> PhD research
trainees who have already
completed their curriculum, Jorge
Correira <strong>Jesuino</strong> provided
feedbacks for improving their
critical thinking and research skills
through face to face and distant
tutoring.
He also promoted the
participation of several
Portuguese candidates in the
<strong>European</strong> Ph.D program.

Jorge Correia <strong>Jesuino</strong> also
welcomed young researchers
enrolled in the <strong>European</strong> Ph.D.
programme and selected as
Marie Curie fellows at I.S.C.T.E.
In view of his retirement, he has
also guaranteed the continuity of
the institutional co-operation with
the <strong>European</strong> Ph.D. introducing
new tutors and a representative
who might replace him in the
Executive Committee of the
<strong>European</strong> PhD on S .R. & C. , to
which he has belonged since its
outset in 1996.

On December 9, 2004 it is
Jorge Correia <strong>Jesuino</strong>’s turn:
an homage session has been
organized at I.S.C.T.E. on
the occasion of his final
lecture.
I am sure he will be pleased
to watch these photos
remembering the very nice
time we spent together for
more than ten years.
The only way for me to be
able not to lose him is to
continue to keep in touch
and trust each other as we
did for such a long time.
