After a great evening organised by our
host, opening with a nice tour disclosing
us the charm of the city of Porto and ending
with a famous Port cellar visit with a
nice dinner, the seminar continued for
the usual second (half) day.
This second day started with an excellent
and detailed presentation by Anne
Pattberg of Camelot on the EL CSR approach
and certification. The presentation
did prove that EL and its members
do spend a substantial amount of time
and resources to find a proper framework
for one of the key issues addressed in the
EU legal debate. A lively debate took
place on this matter.
The second presentation of the day by
EL’s Legal Advisers, Mrs. Annick Hubert
and Mr. Philippe Vlaemminck , went
through the latest developments in the
WTO saga on Internet gambling and the
subsequent Trade Barriers action. The
intervention made by EL was explained
in detail as well as the need for further
coordination.
After the coffee break, several lawyers
coming from different jurisdictions, Mr. A
Van ‘T Veer, Mr. G. Jaeger, Mr. M. Janot,
Mr. E. Romppainen and Mr. R. Von Leesen
did present and discuss their views on legal
compliance with regard to advertising
and insider win policy. The presentations
did prove that, according to the states
concerned, a variety of different, but essential
measures are applied.
Finally the Chairman of the EL Legal
WG summarized the two days discussion
in a comprehensive way in its closing remarks.
SCML was also praised as an excellent
host of the seminar.
