After obtaining the approval by the antitrust authority, the agreement for the acquisition of Ansaldo Sistemi
Industriali by Nidec Corporation was signed in Milan yesterday, as anticipated in last april and confirmed in
the press release diffused today by the Japanese Corporate.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Juntaro Fuji, Director, M&A, Nidec Corporation, and for the selling party by
(or on behalf of) Ms. Lynn Tilton, Ceo of Patriarch Partners, Llc and past Chairman of ASI .
The meeting was attended by Mr. Claudio Andrea Gemme, confirmed as Ceo of Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali,
and by Mr. Patrick K. Murphy, the Ceo of Nidec Motors Corporation (Usa) and now appointed Chairman of
ASI. Mr. Hanahaka Motoyhoshi, shall be a member of the Board of Directors.
The Nidec Group is targeting to become the world leader for “everything that spins and moves”, i.e. electric
drives, with special focus on motors. In line with this strategy, the takeover of ASI represents a further,
significant step in the M&A policy planned by the Corporate through the last four years by actively pursuing
opportunities to acquire companies in this industry.
With a long-standing industrial tradition and a qualified workforce of highly-trained technicians and
professionals, specialized in engineering, product development and sale of high-tech products and services,
Asi represents a valuable asset.
Through Asi’s acquisition, Nidec Group aims to accelerate the global expansion of its industrial motor business
by the access to new market areas (Europe, China, India, Russia and the Middle East) and sectors (iron&steel
power generation, oil&gas many other industrial applications).
Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali will work in close cooperation with Nidec Motors Corporation (St.Louis, USA), the
primary industrial motor subsidiary of the Group now operating in the markets of North and South America,
where it offers, as its main products, low to medium power range motors for the core industry applications of
oil&gas and water and waste water.
