The Dream
In 2010/11 we circumnavigated the Northern Atlantic with our three girls and skipper Yves.
After having sailed from Europe to the Caribbean and up the US East Coast, we finally
reached the Arctic where we immediately fell in love with the icebergs, blue waters and steep
granite mountains of Greenland’s incredibly beautiful fjords. This made us dream and a big
idea emerged - to repeat the route of famous explorers Franklin and Amundsen with our own
catamaran Libellule. The proof of concept was performed in the following weeks, when we
seriously put our sailing catamaran to the test around Greenland’s icebergs and pack ice.
Libellule behaved well and safely despite being built for warmer waters. This was the
inception of our project: to sail the North West Passage with our own sailing catamaran
during Summer 2013.
