celebration... 

July is a month to celebrate the wonderful country we live 

in, particularly as it is Nelson Mandela’s birthday month. As 

e.tv is a proudly South African broadcaster that celebrates 

our culture, our people and our artists, its no surprise that 

this month’s Red Carpet Thursday movies are Leon 

Schuster classics- always a huge hit with our audience. 

Schuster, who started out as a teacher has had multiple hit 

music albums, and movies. This month we play three of our 

favourites: Panic Mechanic on the 4th at 20:30, Oh Schucks, 

Here Comes Untag on the 11th at 20:30 and There’s a Zulu 

on my Stoep on the 18th at 20:30. 

All Schuster’s films laugh at the past and current social 

situation in South Africa, creating humour out of our racial 

and cultural differences. In the past, these three films have 

had unbelievable ratings with Oh Schucks, Here Comes 

Untag pulling, 2.6 million viewers while both Panic 

Mechanic and There’s a Zulu On My Stoep pulled in over 3 

million viewers each-making these ideal advertising 

opportunities for your clients. 

The second fantastic movie festival we have on this month 

is an animation festival. Every Saturday at 20:00 is a great 

animation for the whole family to enjoy, including 

Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and Open Season. 

The last Saturday of the month is the beginning of the Will 

Smith Festival which carries on on Sundays at 20:00. The 

ever popular entertainer stars in Hitch, Hancock, Bad Boys 

and Bad Boys 2. 

All in all a great month ahead for viewing and selling.

Cool Catz is a funky, fun studio based show 

starring four of the coolest Cats in town: 

Catnap, Wildcat, Smartycat and Kitty Kat. 

Cool Catz embraces the energetic and 

imaginative world of the pre-school 

audience. It entertains, excites, stimulates 

and motivates them to enter the magical 

world of the Cool Catz. 

Peppa is a loveable, cheeky little piggy who lives 

with her little brother George, Mummy Pig and 

Daddy Pig. Peppa's favourite things include 

playing games, dressing up, days out and 

jumping in muddy puddles. Her adventures 

always end happily with loud snorts of laughter.

Meet Kwagga, Africa's version of Crocodile Dundee. Kwagga lives in the 

bush, where he runs a store and every so often pretends to have killed a lion 

with his bare hands so tourists can take his picture - for dollars, of course. All 

Kwagga wants is to make enough money to buy back the family farm, and 

for his older brother to stop making nasty comments about his hairpiece. 

One day, a ragtag bunch of UNTAG soldiers set up camp near Kwagga's 

home. They take pot-shots at Kwagga's three-wheeled bike and accidentally 

destroy his shop. When the locals' cattle go missing, Kwagga decides 

enough is enough. He starts playing outrageous pranks on the soldiers and 

also discovers a plot involving an ostrich and a gigantic diamond. This goodnatured 

comedy will appeal to everyone who enjoyed Crocodile Dundee, 

and stars some of South Africa's foremost comedians, both in front of and 

behind the camera. Starring LEON SHUSTER, BILL FLYNN and CASPER DE 

VRIES. 

THERE'S A ZULU ON MY STOEP 

COMEDY 

THURSDAY 18TH 

There`s a Zulu on my Stoep In Apartheid South Africa, white boy Rhino 

Laubeschakne (LEON SCHUSTER) and Zulu Mashebela were best friends 

until Rhino, pressured by his American girlfriend, Rowena, shoots a can off 

Zulu’s head, abruptly ending their friendship. 25 years later, Zulu has 

become a car thief in New York, picking up an American accent but not 

forgetting his roots as “the champion mud slinger of the world”. The prison’s 

warden gets Zulu deported back to Africa by the Threatened Immigrants 

Right-wing Defence, or TIRD. Also starring JOHN MATSHIKIZA and WILSON 

DUNSTER. 

SWEET 'N SHORT 

COMEDY 

THURSDAY 25TH 

In this South African take on the Rip van Winkle story, comedian LEON 

SCHUSTER pokes fun at the new and the old South Africa. Popular but 

accident-prone sports broadcaster Sweet Coetzee loses his job to an 

irritating colleague on whom he played a prank at a golf tournament. Sweet 

seeks consolation at the slot machines but as he hits the jackpot, he is 

knocked unconscious by a bumbling robber. Sweet is rushed to hospital, and 

his former colleague scores again, claiming the money. When Sweet wakes 

up, he has forgotten his name, his winnings and his girlfriend, and South 

Africa is totally different: the ANC is in power. Dazed and confused, Sweet 

goes on the run with new pal Shorty, ending up in a rightwing enclave where 

they create merry havoc, and where Sweet regains his memory. Now he 

must return to Johannesburg to set matters right - and get back his jackpot 

winnings. Also starring ALFRED NTOMBELA and CASPER DE VRIES.

money for 'the bosses'. Eventually, the group turn big 

time when Black himself becomes a boss. All the while 

Pistone collects evidence. However, the trials and 

tribulations of the undercover work become more 

than Pistone can bear. His marriage falls apart and to 

top it off, the mafia suspect a mole in the 

organization. Pistone’s real dilemma is that he knows 

if he walks away from the mafia, Ruggiero will be the

1. Rates quoted are for commercials of 30“ duration. Durations less than 30” are calculated as follows:

Long duration commercials are calculated pro rata to the 30“ rate. 

2. Surcharge for specific positions in ad break: 10% on net airtime costs. 

3. Surcharge for solus break (subject to availability): 20% on net airtime costs. 

4. The cancellation surcharge is as follows: 

Commercials cancelled between 0 - 15 working days before broadcast: 100% surcharge. 

Commercials cancelled between 16-21 working days before broadcast: 50% surcharge. 

5. Rates quoted include Agency commission on net cost unless otherwise stated. 

6. All rates quoted exclude VAT. 

7. Product exclusivity is not guaranteed within commercial breaks. 

8. Prime Time is considered as: Weekdays (Mon.-Fri.) - 17h00-22h30. 

Weekends (Sat.-Sun.) - 17h00-22h00. Shoulder Time is considered as: 

Weekdays (Mon.-Fri.) - 22h31-16h59. Weekends (Sat.-Sun.) - 22h01-16h59 

9. In the event of e.tv failing, for any reason whatsoever, to broadcast a commercial in terms of any agreement between the 

Advertiser and e.tv, any claim against e.tv by the advertiser shall be limited to a rebate that shall not exceed the original 

net cost of the commercial booked and not flighted. 

10. Annual negotiated deals must be committed in writing and signed by both parties before negotiated terms come into effect. 

11. Rates and ‘e’ rates quoted in the rate card relate to the rate grid. The ‘e’ rate takes preference over the Rand amount should a 

discrepancy occur on the rate card. 

12. The Advertising Agency that enters into this contract on behalf of the Advertiser warrants that it has the necessary 

authority from their Advertiser to do so, such Agency shall be liable to pay e.tv any amounts owed by the Advertiser in 

terms of this agreement. 

13. The Advertiser agrees that the broadcaster of the Advertisement is subject to the provisions of the Advertising Standards 

Authority Code and that e.tv is entitled to withdraw any advertisement which, in e.tv’s sole discretion, may be 

deemed to be contrary to the code or which may otherwise expose e.tv to any criminal or civil proceedings. 

14. If the Advertiser refuses or fails to pay any amount due to e.tv in terms of this agreement, e.tv shall be entitled to cancel this 

agreement forthwith, to cease further broadcasts of the Advertiser’s advertisement and to recover any outstanding 

amounts to e.tv which shall become immediately Payable on such refusal or failure to pay. 

15. The Advertiser shall not be entitled to cede any of its rights in terms of this agreement to third parties. 

16. The Advertiser hereby indemnifies and holds e.tv and its employees harmless against any claim for damages to property 

or personal injuries, infringement of copyright, defamation, losses, legal costs or claims otherwise howsoever 

arising out of, in respect of or as a result of the Broadcasting of advertisements covered by this agreement and 

including but not limited to any third party claim arising from any matter depicted in such advertisement of the Advertiser. 

Should any such claim be made against e.tv, it shall be entitled in e.tv’s discretion as to whether it admits or denies any such 

claim and e.tv reserves the right to defend and such claims brought against it and to proceed to the final end determination 

thereof and to lodge any appeals to any court of courts, to which it has the right to do so, and in addition shall have the right to 

compromise, abandon or settle any claim made against it and to nominate legal representatives and to brief council in 

connection therewith, and the Advertiser shall be liable for and shall pay all costs, charges and expenses necessary and 

reasonably incurred by e.tv in connection therewith or otherwise in addition to all sums of money whether for damages, 

costs, charges, expenses or otherwise which e.tv may be ordered to pay the said Plaintiff in the said actions on the advice of 

its legal representative and Council. 

17. The Company reserves the right to change scheduled programming or rates. 

Such change is deemed by the company to be significant with respect to, for example, either the rating or audience profile 

thereof. The advertiser shall have no claim against the Company in respect of programme or rate changes. 

18. Material deadline: 10 working days prior to first flighting. 

19. All adverts have to comply with the Code of the Advertising Standards 

Authority (ASA). Should you have any reason to believe that your advert might 

be in contravention of the ASA Code, please inform e.tv accordingly. 

20. Added value to be taken in Shoulder Time. All added value is pre-emptable.
