The Career & Transfer Center offers services <strong>and</strong> assistance to<br />

both current <strong>and</strong> prospective students who are interested in<br />

career development, exploration, internships, <strong>and</strong> university<br />

transfer. Available assistance includes:<br />

• Career assessments to explore careers related to interests,<br />

skills, <strong>and</strong> values<br />

• Resumes, cover letters, <strong>and</strong> interviewing<br />

• Job searching <strong>and</strong> internship opportunities<br />

• University transfer information<br />

Multiple workshops <strong>and</strong> events are offered throughout the<br />

semester. Attendance is free <strong>and</strong> encouraged. Students can<br />

visit the Career & Transfer Center online at estrellamountain.<br />

edu/students/career-services to access information related<br />

to career development <strong>and</strong> to view the centers upcoming<br />

events <strong>and</strong> workshops. Listings of both part-time <strong>and</strong> fulltime<br />

jobs can be accessed online at the Career & Transfer<br />

Center through the Maricopa Career Network, an online job<br />

seach engine for MCCCD students, at maricopa.jobing.com.<br />

Counseling services are provided to promote student<br />

development by helping students to define <strong>and</strong> achieve their<br />

academic, career, <strong>and</strong> personal goals. At <strong>Estrella</strong> <strong>Mountain</strong>, the<br />

counselors can help students be successful through counseling<br />

services <strong>and</strong> instruction. The counseling staff encourages<br />

students to visit <strong>and</strong> share how students <strong>and</strong> counselors can<br />

work together to support students aspirations both in <strong>and</strong> out<br />

of college.<br />

Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the DRC<br />

office at the beginning of the admissions process to discuss<br />

Internships are a great way to gain professional skills <strong>and</strong> selfconfidence,<br />

test out a career field, build your resume, gather<br />

insight into a particular industry or organizational culture<br />

<strong>and</strong> establish connections <strong>and</strong> build a network of contacts.<br />

Internships offered by <strong>Estrella</strong> can be both credit <strong>and</strong> noncredit<br />

<strong>and</strong> are offered in many different areas of interest. EMCC<br />

provides both paid <strong>and</strong> unpaid internship opportunities.<br />

a myriad of student activities available to help build students’<br />

Student Insurance/Accident <strong>and</strong> Health | 623.935.8910<br />

Enrolled students are automatically provided insurance<br />

coverage for college-related accidents. The plan provides<br />

secondary coverage when a student has individual insurance<br />

<strong>and</strong> will pay the remaining reasonable charges within the limits<br />

of the policy. Forms can be obtained through Student Life.<br />

Veterans’ <strong>Services</strong> | 623.935.8937<br />

<strong>Estrella</strong> <strong>Mountain</strong> <strong>Community</strong> College, through the Veterans<br />

Administration, offers higher education to veterans <strong>and</strong><br />

eligible dependents under U.S. Code Title 38, Chapters 30, 31,<br />

33, 35, 1606, <strong>and</strong> 1607. The Veterans <strong>Services</strong> office provides<br />

information <strong>and</strong> application assistance for those eligible for<br />

Veterans’ educational benefits. They also certify <strong>and</strong> monitor<br />

veterans’ enrollment. To secure benefits, the student must<br />

apply through theVeterans <strong>Services</strong> office on campus. For more<br />
